About The Heart Foundation

The Heart Foundation believes in a future free from heart disease. We fund life-saving heart research and work to improve heart disease prevention, care and support for all Australians.

We have been fighting for Australian hearts for more than 60 years. Our work is purpose-driven, focused on stopping Australia’s number one killer: heart disease, taking 51 lives every day. Almost 90% of Australians are at risk of developing heart disease.

The Heart Foundation makes a real difference in the fight for the heart health of Australians. Every day our work delivers:

• support for people living with heart disease and people looking to improve their heart health

• education and resources across living a heart-healthy lifestyle

• funding for world-leading heart health research

• support for health professionals to prevent, diagnose and treat heart disease

• advocacy for governments and industry to increase funding and resources for heart health

The generosity of everyday Australians funds our life-changing work. Donations make up 60% of the Heart Foundation’s funding.*

Together, we are making progress in the fight to save Australian hearts. Australian Bureau of Statistics data shows a 44% decline in deaths from heart disease over the last 50 years.

The Heart Foundation is there for the 620,000 Australians living with heart disease today, and we are working to prevent and manage heart disease for future generations.

* Other funding sources include program and research grants and investment income.
