Cycling with Purpose - 1,600 km for Heart Health ❤️🚴
This August, I’m taking on the Heart Foundation’s “Cycle for Heart” challenge with a goal of riding 1,600 kilometres to help raise awareness and support lifesaving heart research.
As both a cyclist and a registered nurse, this challenge means more to me than simply chasing kilometres. Throughout my nursing career, I’ve cared for many people living with heart disease and seen firsthand the impact it has on individuals and their families. It reminds me that every ride can represent something bigger than personal fitness.
Cycling has become a huge part of my life over the past couple of years. It has challenged me physically, strengthened my mental wellbeing, introduced me to lifelong friends, and taken me to some incredible places across South Australia. This month, every kilometre I ride has an added purpose.
A target of 1,600 km in one month will require consistency and plenty of determination. But knowing that every pedal stroke contributes to a worthwhile cause makes the challenge even more rewarding.
Whether it’s a solo endurance ride, a Sunday handicap race with Southern Vales Cycling Club, or a team ride with Septimus Racing, every kilometre counts.
If you’d like to support the cause, I’d be incredibly grateful for your encouragement or a donation to the Heart Foundation. Together, we can help fund vital research, improve heart health, and support people affected by cardiovascular disease.
Here’s to a month of meaningful kilometres - 1,600 km for heart health. ❤️🚴
