About the Challenge

October marks the beginning of Daylight Savings; more daylight so planning on making the most of it.

What is involved: monthly & daily.
Monthly challenge: over a 3 month period (start of October till end of December) raising funds & awareness for Heart Foundation & Dementia Australia. Each month my goal is to accumulate 36kms of physical activity (12km swim, 12km cycle, & 12km power walk/run). End game is to reach a total of 108kms by December 31st.

Daily challenge:
Let's not skip a beat! Each day, I will do 108 jumps with a skipping rope.
Why this number: Recently, I have become an assessor of Basic Life Support (BLS) in my workplace. The assessed rate of compressions is 100-120bpm. So, let's save lives!

Why: personal connection to loved one experiencing dementia & a colleague at work has recently received medical treatment for their heart. Many colleagues & friends have shared their connections to people experiencing dementia or heart disease.

In 2025, I participated in my own personal challenge of "12km Swim - 12 Days of Christmas" for December Australia. Last year, I raised $2,300 & swam 14kms. This year, I plan to do one better! Below is link to donate to my Dementia Australia page:

Literature has shown a positive correlation between regular physical activity & reduced risk of developing dementia/ cognitive decline, plus being physically active has shown to be a protective factor for cardiac health.

I’ve taken on a challenge to Do it for Heart!

I’m passionate about making a difference and I need your help to create positive change. That’s why I’m fundraising for the Heart Foundation (& Dementia Australia) – and I hope you’ll support me in this.

Heart disease remains Australia’s biggest killer, claiming 48 lives every day. Your donation will help the Heart Foundation to transform Australia’s heart health by:

  • Funding life-changing heart research

  • Supporting health professionals working to prevent, diagnose and treat heart disease

  • Providing heart-healthy programs and resources for everyday Australians.

Please make a donation today, click the donate button. Every donation, big or small will help me get closer to my goal.

Thank you for your support.
